Sammy

God I love this cat. Look how funny he is.

New York June 2011 Part Two

One of the coolest times of the trip was waking up some what early and going next door to the hostel to the little coffee shop and just sit there and talk to Kal. Here are a few snap shots from that. I think it is called Cafe Orwell.

Another great breakfast spot the gang all stopped at was Juliette. Thank you Robyn for the suggestion. It was very nice and felt fancy even though we were sitting on the sidewalk.

I'm not sure what this but it was good and I ate it.

New York June 2011 Part One

A long long long time ago I went to NYC to meet up with my old AIU London friends. It was a long overdue reunion. It was amazing and it only took a few minutes until it really felt like old times.

Robyn Joy and myself drove up together from the DC area and we were having a foursquare war the entire time. Even when we were not together we were checking in all over town trying to beat each others scores.

This trip was over a year ago so bare with me the details are hazey.

My very good friend and old London roomie, Kal, stayed at the New York Loft Hostel. What can we say? We are poor! No fancy hotels for us. Whatever.
UntitledThis place was nice though! I don't have any complaints. I guess the only one would be sharing a room with 12 other people. haha. Listen I wasn't murdered and that means it was successful!

After we checked in we made our way over to a bar called Union Pool. It was a cool hipster place. LISTEN TO ME---go there for the mexican food truck in the back! OMG! Amazing. The corn! OMG! Don't share one! Get one for yourself! SO GOOD!
UntitledI still dream about this corny

UntitledI mean come on...this is life!

Oh and here is a picture of the truck itself. God bless you mexican food truck! El Diablo Tacos

Also, side note, holy hell there are alot of hipsters in brooklyn/williamsburg. Maybe too many?

More to come

Sunnies

Very excited about my new Converse All Star sunglasses! I am anxiously waiting for them to come in. These are prescription ones! After years of frying my eyes with Ultraviolet rays... I thought this year is the year that I will stop that.. a little bit.
New style

Help! I'm nauseous!

How cool is this packaging at Target? They are little emergency kits for different situations. They are like 4 dollars a piece and so not worth the money but design wise. Thumbs up!
Wow! At target

I just googled it. Apparently other people are talking about it too and it looks like its a whole company...not just a target brain child.

Weiner Cheesers

One of my favorite things to do when I go visit my parents in PA is going to the local farmers market. It is similar to the Philly market but less overwhelming and more down home if you will. There are Amish families that have stands.

My favorite Amish treat. I think they call them little cheesers?

Decadent Desserts

Here are some gorgeous and YUMMY desserts I have taken pictures of over the past few months.  OH MY OH MY

Franklin Fountain -Philadelphia, PA
Clarke got the Mt. Vesuvius and I got the The Franklin Mint. They both were incredible in person. After tasting both we agreed the Mt. Vesuvius was the yummiest BUT the detail on that Franklin Mint is amazing, isn't it? Clarke likes to watch many of the restaurant shows on TV and always has great places for us to try out when we travel around.  Menu NOTE: You really only need to order one sundae for two people but we didn't want to try just one!
Ice creams

Random Pub - London, England
Sticky Toffee Pudding Oh man, oh man, right? If you ever do travel to England, you know they all say make sure you get a pint? or fish and chips? Well what they should be saying is get a sticky toffee pudding. (Note: Pudding means dessert over there)

9:30 Club - Washington, DC
The 9:30 club cupcake is amazing but apparently its the people over at the Buzz Bakery that actually makes the treat.

The Melrose Hotel, Washington DC
My company is very kind and lets me stay in a hotel once in awhile when I am working in DC. The room service lava cake. SO GOOD. Not the best photo or the best looking but trust me in person it is perfection.

London March 2012 Part Five

The wedding was amazing. It started off at Saint James Paddington and here one of the beautiful stain glass windows.
Paddington
After the wedding was done..we all threw beautiful purple potpourri at the bride and groom. It was very messy and I accidentally threw it right in one of the girls hair. Sorry! Then we sipped champagne while we waited for the buses (coaches as the brits say). The buses drove us to the reception site, Pembroke Lodge.
View
This place was magical. Definitely one of the best parts of the trip. It was just so cool to go to a wedding internationally. Oh, and did you know they call wedding receptions there the "wedding breakfast?" I didn't! Who knew!

And finally here is the beautiful cake that was at the wedding we attended. How gorgeous!

Horse Lovers!

How funny is this app? Lillian told me about it and she put these wonderful photos together for me. I am no horse lover...but these photos are dreamy... Oh and here is a link to the app.. because you know you want it too.

Me and a tiny horse in my car

Omg I love this app

Bedroom Clean

A nice moment in my bedroom. Not always looking this clean. BUT I did catch it clean real quick.

My grandmother, Mimi, gave me this mirror years ago. I am blanking on who originally owned it, maybe her mother in law? Clarke got me the stuffie off of etsy for my birthday one year. Alarm clock was my dad's in college. Also, you will see my tiny owl collection.

Summer Foods

So I have been on a diet for about 3 months now and I am happy to report it has been going very well. You will also notice in the picture a can of diet dr. pepper. This has saved my life during the dieting process. I have always hated diet soda BUT this one I can do.

Ingredients: Cherry tomatoes, roasted corn, salt, pepper, rice vinegar
Yum

Triangle Card

So I got this idea from The Beautiful Mess blog. Its amazing how their blog inspires me to get off my butt and be creative.. once in a while...other times I am motivated to watch reality television.

Card

SHABA! Is a word my friend Lillian and I created after numerous times of saying "haha" and our iphones auto correcting it to Shaba! So it kinda stuck. Try it out. It feels very international. Shaba everyone!

Here is a link to her project tutorial. Thank you Elsie and crew.

Hanging Salt and Pepper Thingy

How cute is this salt and paper shaker? My sister took us to her favorite coffee shop cafe place in Harrisburg called Breads and Spreads. OH NO! Sis just said it has closed up. That is very sad it was really a cute place and had yummy food. I found a bunch of them on sale on ebay. There are purples ones, green ones, and yellow ones too!

Salt

YES, this really happened!

I mean. I can't even make this up.
Elvis
Yes, this really happened and I screamed like a little girl! 9/29/11

I went to the Elvis Costello show with Clarke's sister, Kim, and we were hanging out on the street looking at the tour buses and then Elvis magically appears behind us. WOW! We were so extremely lucky. I am not kidding it was Kim, some random dude, and myself just standing there randomly and then he just appears.. I was like omg omg omg thats him!!! I know he is in his 50's but he is so dreamy! SWOON!

Cupcakes by me

Just wanted to share some cupcakes I have made. Listen, I may have started "the cupcake girls" craft group. I do not claim to be magical baker BUT I can assure you I do love a cupcake or two or three...

London March 2012 Part Four

One thing I never did in London but always wanted to do was go on a Jack the Ripper walk. I know super cheesy to all my British friends BUT if you are a tourist SO interesting and creepy and fun.

This was our tour guide. Her name was Molly and she was fantastic. Clarke and I can't wait to go back to London and do even more walking tours.
Jack
We used this company, London Walks.

At the end of the walk they recommend you go to one of the actual pubs that the prostitutes used to hang out at to pick up clients! You don't have to tell us twice! Ten Bells Pub

This is a picture Clarke took of me in the toilets. If you notice, to the right, there are the sinks. There were separate mens rooms and ladies rooms but the sinks were out for everyone to use. Kinda neat. How nice to share washing hand time with your loved one? It brought us closer even.
Bells pub

London March 2012 Part Three

Oh, how I miss my little Jamieyk. We didn't not get to spend nearly enough time together. This was at a pub across the street from a gig Clarke and I went to go see. It was a brief encounter but lots of fun.

We planned on seeing each other a few days later and it all went wrong. Traveling without cell service in another country...sometimes goes wrong. So there I was in Liverpool Street station boo hooing on a pay phone while throwing coin after coin in the machine. Boo Hoo.
Untitled
After we hung out with Jamie we went to a show over at the venue called The Venue 229. I was a little worried the club wouldn't be very cool because it was in central London in a "posh" area kinda. BUT we loved it!

The Filthy Nights I can't remember how they sound. But I remember thinking they were pretty awesome.

Pink

Dear Thief This band was cool too. The music was good but the performance factor and mood of the band was really cool. They wore all black and had the vintage rock look. I do see this band becoming "famous." We will see. I wanted to get this in writing so I can say ....seeeeee remember when I said....haha
Love

The Duel This girl was pretty freaking awesome. It wasn't music I typically like but being in London and her cool punk tude...we couldn't ask for more!
Duel

Last but not least. The headliner was Vic Godard & The Subway Sect
What is cool about this kids... The drummer for the evening was an actual SEX PISTOL. I mean HELLO!!!! I saw a SEX PISTOL. More specifically Paul Cook. Here he is...very handsome.

Quilt Final

The final product. Mom finished maybe a year ago now. I just never got to show the final!

London March 2012 Part Two

What is a trip to London without a few stops to Camden Town? It was so fun to walk around the back streets and know where I was going. Although, I did get a little confused.
